Vintage Redwork and Embroidery Patterns
The patterns and images found in this section are from many different sources and date back to pre-1900's. These patterns are clear images of the originals or images taken from the original redwork quilt. Some images may be marked as to prevent the rising rate of pattern theft. The markings will not effect the use of the pattern for personal use. It only prevents copying for resale.

Here
are 56 embroidery patterns for birds of every kind in floral and
natural settings – accented with insects to fit a 12” square. A
wonderful variety to be worked in their natural colors or wonderful in
redwork or bluework. These can be easily be traced on your block fabric with a water erasable pen.
Includes
an instruction sheet and embroider stitches used. If you love appliqué,
enlarge these and do them in solids with embroidered details – really

The
most wonderful redwork embroidery group borrowed from a friend who has
gathered these for years. Three were completed tops and one a selection
of blocks she’s collected over the years. These are one-of-a-kind
patterns as they are taken directly from the embroidery that was done
and include an instruction sheet – you need only have your fabric,
thread and a water erasable pen to transfer these to fabric. These were
usually coverlets that were un-quilted, often used for a summer
bedspread. They range in age from the turn of the late 1800’s up to the
1940’s. Take a look at all the four collections these are so very rare.
The
images are a variety of sizes and subjects: Many Sunbonnet Sue’s and Overall Bill’s, Victorian children, a collie’s head, a stag’s head, plant life, birds, and baskets, to name a few. There are no repeats in the blocks – all are different.

Novelty Redwork Quilt pattern 42 vintage images
These
42 embroidered images are adapted from a quilt that was made on the
east coast in the late 1800’s. The dates that the quilt began and was
finished are included in the upper left and right corner blocks – you
are free to change those dates to correspond with your timing on your
own work.
Each image fits a 9” square block. To be transferred to your fabric of choice with water erasable pen.
In
recreating these most unusual old images I was struck by the detail
that was used in almost painting with a needle and thread.
